    Earth Time

     

    The EarthTime platform tracks climactic and human-induced risks – from refugee flows, terrorism and other risks – on a planetary scale over the past three decades. Developed by Carnegie Mellon’s Createa Lab team, EarthTime enables users to interact with visualizations of the Earth’s transformation over time. Combining huge data sets – including some provided by Muggah, with images captured by NASA satellites between 1984 and 2016.

    Fragile Cities

     

    The fragile cities platform includes data on over 2,100 cities with populations of 250,000 or more. It features information between 2000 and 2015 in an interactive and user-friendly map. It can help mayors, planners, and citizens better navigate the risks facing fast growing cities.

    Crime Radar

     

    CrimeRadar is a user-friendly, real-time hotspot mapping and crime forecasting platform for law enforcement. At the center of the solution is an algorithm that processes current and historical data from emergency hotlines and police reports, generating crime hotspot maps.

    Mapping Arms Data

     

    The Mapping Arms Data (MAD) tool features data on arms and ammunition transfers between all countries and territories from 1992 to 2014. It was originally developed with Google’s Jigsaw and the Peace Research Institute Oslo and launched in 2012. It was nominated for a Favorite Website Award (2012), received an honorary nomination for a Webby (2013) and was featured in Wired magazine (2013) and BBC (2013) and hundreds of news outlets around the world since then.

    Homicide Monitor

     

    The Homicide Monitor is the most comprehensive publicly available dataset on murder in the world. It is a data-driven data visualization tool designed to show the distribution, dimensions and dynamics of homicidal violence.
